Brooks Manufacturing Receives Good Neighbor Award from Local Red Cross

Bellingham, WA – September 9, 2008 – Brooks Manufacturing, one of the country's largest manufacturers of wood utility-size crossarms, recently received the 2008 Good Neighbor Award from the Mt. Baker Chapter of the American Red Cross. The Good Neighbor Award recognizes an individual or organization outside the American Red Cross that has made a significant, humanitarian contribution to the local, national or international community in support of the Red Cross. Since 2001, Brooks management and employees of have made monthly donations to the Mt. Baker Chapter, all of which have been matched by the company.
“We are very grateful for the continued financial contribution this company and its employees have chosen to make to our organization,” said Maureen Enegren, Executive Director of the Mt. Baker Chapter. “The American Red Cross, including all local chapters, receives no federal funding at any level. Therefore, all the services we provide to the community are funded locally, and corporate donors such as Brooks Manufacturing are vital in our ability to continually provide these programs.”
“We are honored to receive this recognition from the Red Cross,” said Mimi Brooks Ferlin, third-generation owner of Brooks Manufacturing. “Our local Red Cross plays an essential role in our community's health, safety and ability to respond to disasters, and we are proud to support them.”
Brooks Manufacturing has been producing distribution crossarms, braces and transmission structure framing components at its current location in Bellingham since the 1930s. Charitable giving has always been a part of the company's vision and corporate culture.
